This article examines the origins of certain food-related terms in Uzbek and Urdu, their pathways of diffusion, and the historical and cultural factors that contributed to their development. The etymology of words such as “palov,” “somsa,” “halva,” “shorva,” “tea,” and “dolma” is briefly explained, showing how these terms entered both languages through Arabic, Persian, Turkic, and Chinese influences.
