This article examines the distinctive features of food names borrowed into the Chinese language from other languages. Particular attention is given to the origins, lexical-semantic characteristics, sources, and phonetic adaptation of certain units that entered Chinese as a result of globalization, international trade, and cultural interaction. The material presented in the article is significant for understanding the dynamics of lexical change in Chinese and for evaluating cross-linguistic influence.
