Speech Act Theory as A Framework for Analyzing Uzbek Communicative Behavior
Abstract
This paper deals with the issues based on analyzing how Speech Act Theory provides a useful framework for analyzing communicative behavior in the Uzbek language. Drawing from foundational theories by Austin and Searle, the study examines how various speech acts—such as directives, commissives, and expressives—manifest in Uzbek discourse. It highlights culturally specific patterns in communication, such as politeness, indirectness, and hierarchical respect. By analyzing conversational samples and social situations, the study aims to shed light on the pragmatics of Uzbek communication and its implications for intercultural understanding and linguistic studies. The findings suggest that speech acts in Uzbek are deeply influenced by sociocultural norms.
