WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT IN TRANSLATION: EQUIMETRY OR IMPRESSION?

Abstract

This article examines the translation skills of the famous trans­la­tor Shoislom Shomuhammedov, who translated thousands of rubai, hun­d­reds of ghazals and dozens of epics (including the Shahnameh) from the Per­si­an-Tajik language into Uzbek. It is also emphasized that poetry can be created in almost any meter of the Uzbek language, and most importantly, that the stu­dy of Persian ghazals and rubai gives the reader the opportunity to more de­ep­ly feel poetry and the spirit of the era.
